MAYBERRY ARCHERS

BOWBULL

April 2008

Mayberry’s first outdoor field shoot will be Sunday, April 6th starting at 10 am. It will be a short 15 target 300 round with distances only out to 65 yards. This is also a great shoot for first time field shooters!

Our Annual Spring Fling will take place on May 17th and 18th. Both starting at 9 am with a covered dish potluck dinner for all archers on Saturday afternoon.

Our indoor club champions for 2008 are --

AA class – Jerry Powers 299/39 x’s

B class - Winnie Paris 285/15 x’s

F class - Pete Thompson 218/8 x’s

At our last meeting we discussed making a bylaw change. This change will be voted on at the next (April) meeting. Our current bylaws – section 7 –

“All new members shall be probationary members for a full six month period, during which the BOD reserves the right to dismiss any probationary members for any reason by a 2/3 vote of the members (of the BOD) present. At the end of the probation period, new members may obtain the lock combination to the clubhouse. The delay to obtain the lock combination may be waived at the discretion of the club President for unusual circumstances. No one under 18 years of age may use the combination or the clubhouse without adult supervision.”

Due to our having access cards now which allows us to know who has entered the clubhouse we would like to remove the probationary period of membership to use the indoor range. Many times we have had new members who specifically join to use the range and then lose interest when having to wait 6 months for this privilege. The NEW section 7 would read –

“All new members shall be probationary members for a full 6 month period, during which the BOD reserves the right to dismiss any probationary member for any reason by a 2/3 vote of the members (of the BOD) present. No one under 18 years of age may use the access card or the clubhouse without adult supervision.”

Come out to the next meeting to express you opinion for or against this change. You are also eligible to win $ just by attending our meeting! Each meeting we contribute to a drawing and if the lucky member who’s # is drawn that night is present they win! Winnie Paris was the lucky winner for March and very generously donated her winnings back to the club. Thank you Winnie!

Anyone new to using the indoor range – please be aware that the range “pit” lights are in the breaker box and are #20. There is red next to that switch. In the past several weeks the wrong breaker has been turned off and most recently the breaker going to the refrigerator was mistakenly turned off and all contents had to be thrown away. Please DO NOT flip switches until you find the right one!

See you on the range!
